Care and Maintenance

With your purchase of a BS Kinetics underwater housing, you have chosen a high quality product. Please follow the care and maintenance tips below so that you can derive many years of enjoyment from your underwater housing.

  • Avoid direct sunlight on the underwater housing. Direct sunlight can damage not only the underwater housing, but also the camera inside. Cover the underwater housing with a hand towel if direct sunlight is unavoidable. During storage in the car even higher temperatures are reached and the housing must be protected against the heat accordingly. When not in use, store underwater housing without the main O-ring.
  • After a dive, rinse the underwater housing with plenty of fresh water. Avoid salt crystal formation. Salt crystals can result in cuts on the O-ring. Move all moving parts when rinsing all controls to achieve a thorough rinse.
  • The surface of the underwater housing can be cleaned with mild detergent. Do not use solvents such as acetone for cleaning. These can damage surfaces.
  • Clean the O-rings each time the underwater housing is opened. It is sufficient to rinse the main O-ring with clean fresh water. Port O-rings must be cleaned and lubricated. When opening the underwater housing, sand from the water can come into contact with the seal geometry, and cause leaks.
  • Before each dive, check the humidity sensor is functioning by touching the contact surfaces of the housing with wet fingers.
  • Depending on how often the BS Kinetics underwater housing is used, it should be sent for maintenance by a professional every three years. Maintenance includes stripping the housing, cleaning it, and replacing all the O-rings. This is followed by a pressure test to guarantee full functionality.
